Chiropractic Adjustments
The word “adjustment” describes hundreds of different ways of using carefully directed and controlled pressure to restore joint motion and position. Your Irvine Chiropractor can improve the function of nearly any joint in the body (shoulders, elbows, wrists, hands, hips, knees, ankles and feet) – Chiropractic Adjustments are not just limited to the correction of spinal joints. Doctors of Chiropractic are even trained to adjust the Eustachian tube of the ear in patients suffering from chronic ear infections! Chiropractic Adjustments improve joint flexibility and restore strength to regions of the body weakened by misalignment. They also reduce strain on surrounding muscles that may be overworked by trying to move a stiff or misaligned joint. In essence, Chiropractic Adjustments can add a spring to your step, yardage to your drive, “life” to your years, and everything in between.
Chiropractic Adjustments are also extremely safe. It has been practiced around the world for over 100 years for a variety of health conditions. In fact, multiple peer-reviewed scientific studies have actually shown chiropractic care to be safer than the most commonly recommended medications for body aches and pains: over-the-counter non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDS).
Deep Muscle Therapy
Muscles play an important role in both stabilizing and moving the joints of the body. This explains why muscle problems are almost always involved with joint dysfunction. One of the most debilitating forms of muscle dysfunction is a muscle spasm which is the body’s response to protect an injured body part from further harm. Many massage therapy techniques have been developed over the centuries to combat a variety of problems seen at the Irvine Family Health Center – Chiropractic Offices. Several of these techniques are used extensively by our doctors and their staff of physical therapists.
Active Release Technique (ART) Muscle Therapy
Injuries that result from over-used muscles often respond well to the Active Release Technique, a soft-tissue treatment method that often provides immediate and dramatic results. Headaches, low back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, iliotibial band friction syndrome, rotator cuff problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and effectively with Active Release Technique. It is a patented, state-of-the-art soft tissue (muscles, ligaments, fascia, nerves) therapy system.
The Active Release doctor applies precise tension in combination with specific patient movements. Treatment is an interactive process involving both the doctor and the patient. Therefore, every Active Release Technique treatment session is actually a unique combination of both examination and treatment. Patients often notice improvement in their levels of pain, flexibility and strength within seconds of completing their very first treatment.
DRX9000 Spinal Decompression
Some of the most severe neck and low back symptoms are caused by Disc Bulges, Herniated Discs, Ruptured Discs and Degenerative Disc Disease. When the discs of the spine become degenerated or misshapen they commonly exert painful, debilitating pressure on the spinal cord or the nerve roots that exit at the back of the spine. This can lead to numbness, tingling, sharp pain or burning in the arms or legs. One of the most common symptoms associated with a Bulging Disc or Disc Herniation is called Sciatica – usually described as sharp pain that “shoots” straight down the back of the leg to the foot.
Prior to Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression the degenerative disc sufferer had only two main options: 1) cover up the symptoms with medication or risky injections or, 2) repair the disc with invasive procedures like surgery. With the recent technological advance that is Spinal Decompression there is now a third option that is far better than drugs or surgery for the vast majority of neck and low back pain sufferers!
This painless, non-surgical treatment provides relief to severe low back and neck pain sufferers by gently reducing the pressure within the discs of the spine using the state-of-the-art DRX9000 Spinal Decompression Machine. Over successive treatments the disc is returned to its prior, healthy sharp and hydration.

Physical Therapy
Joint function and muscle balance are central to what it means to be vital and healthy. The primary goals of Physical Therapy are to restore and maintain maximal functional ability throughout life. This can be achieved using many different approaches, but often involves a combination of flexibility enhancement, strength training and balance / coordination improvement. Your physical therapist will work closely with you to help you achieve your health goals.
High Power Laser Therapy (HPLT)
Class IV High Power Laser Therapy is the latest advance in safe, comfortable pain relief and tissue repair. The Avicenna High Power Laser is the most advanced, deepest penetrating therapeutic laser currently approved by the FDA.
L-A-S-E-R is an acronym that stands for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission or Radiation. This simply refers to light waves of a specific wavelength – both sunlight and artificial light consist of many different wavelengths of light which scatter in all different directions.
Therapeutic Lasers (“cold lasers”) are unique to the field of medicine. They offer a wide variety of benefits to patients and do so while “passing through” the skin (they do not cut the skin like “hot” surgical lasers). The wavelengths of light create actual physiological changes within the cells of the body – a process called photobiomodulation. These benefits include pain reduction, faster healing time, increased blood circulation and reduced inflammation.
